Lori A. Phillips has excelled at Discover Financial Services—the owners and operators of Discover Bank—for more than two decades, beginning in 1998. In addition, Ms. Phillips served in several positions at the company over the years, including the Senior Manager in the Business Information Security Office, the Senior Manager of Information Security Governance and Risk, and—since 2022—she’s been active as the Director of Business Strategy. She assists the Vice President in managing all departmental deliverables, supports the entire information risk department, and is responsible for policies and standards, collaborating with cybersecurity partners, and attending quarterly meetings with regulators and regulatory bodies. As a testament to her value, she’s won three President Plate Awards from the company.
Ms. Phillips’ professional journey was carved by a strong educational path. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1993. She later bolstered her credentials in the midst of her career with an Executive Certificate in Leadership and Management from the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by coursework in Strategy Execution and Disruptive Strategy at Harvard Business School.
